Abstract

This text seeks to present the thinking of German philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel on the importance of school in the process of individual development. In his philosophy, school plays a central role in the transition from family to civil society and, ultimately, to the state. To understand this journey, it is necessary to understand three moments: the history of the development of school in its search for identity, the harmony between civil society and the state, and the “place” of School Reason. Based on the work Encyclopedia of the Philosophical Sciences in Compendium (1830) and Principles of the Philosophy of Law (1820), as well as commentators and interpreters of Hegel, we will observe how schools fit into Hegelian dialectics and their ethical-political legitimacy.
