Hannah Arendt: the action as revelation of the agent’s who

The objective of this article is to examine the theory of action as a form of revelation of agents in Hannah Arendt. In Arendt, action is always related to politics; that is, when proposing a theory of action, she always has in mind, above all, a theory of political action. On the other hand, action emerges as the singular capacity that each individual possesses from birth to initiate new beginnings and to found new political bodies. By presenting action as the revelation of the agent within the space of plurality of subjects, Arendt points to a path for the redemption of the dignity of politics, which is possible only through the effective participation of individuals in the public space. In this article, we focus on the analysis of Arendt’s texts and of authors within the Arendtian thought tradition, with the purpose of sustaining the centrality of action in her political theory.
