Considerations on the activity of work in Arendt in the footsteps of Odílio Aguiar's interpretation

Abstract

We are celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the death of the philosopher Hannah Arendt. The work of this German-Jewish author has spread throughout our country through numerous forms of production established in the field of political philosophy. We notice that there is a constant appeal to write about the efforts undertaken in recent years by scholars of Arendt's thought in Brazilian lands. This relevant dissemination of Arendtian thought in Brazil was supported by the distinguished work of the eminent Teacher Dr. Odílio Alves Aguiar. Approaches, such as those concerning the human condition, have been developed in our academic spaces. We believe it is relevant to address the reception of Arendtian thought in Brazil by making some delimitations. Indeed, our purpose in this article is to demonstrate the way the place occupied by the activity of labor occurs in the vita activa, according to Arendt's perspectives and following the interpretative paths undertaken by Odílio Aguiar. To this end, we will point out some of the analyses developed by Odílio Aguiar that relate to the issue of human rights and the implications brought about by what was then called the victory of the animal laborans.
